This book is not a parish history. It is the story (so far as time and space allowed and to the extent that the details could be established) of the construction and evolution of our precious church building. Unfortunately, very little was readily available in the way of local records; and peoples's recollections often varied. Consequently, it has required much painstaking research and a little informed speculation to fulfil the task............

..............SET IN STONE is not the end of the story. It is a beginning.....the beginning of the second century of St Patrick's Church in Shotts. If, at some future date, a sequel is contemplated, this may prove a useful starting point.
